When visiting Rostselmash plant, Russian President Vladimir Putin said jokingly, "If need be, I can be a combine driver"

Russian President Vladimir Putin inspected the new equipment in the shops of Rostselmash combine plant in Rostov-on-Don and said jokingly that if need be, he would work as a combine driver.

As reported by TASS, during the visit to the plant, where the head of state was accompanied by Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of Russian Federation, President of the Rosspetsmash Association, Konstantin Babkin, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rostselmash, and Valery Maltsev, General Director of plant, President Putin inspected the process of assembling the tractors.

Then he tried the harvester training simulator. He sat down in the seat of the combine operator, started the virtual machine and began harvesting. "If need be, I can become a combine driver after March 18", the President smiled.

Then he talked to the workers, one of whom thanked Mr Putin for his support of the plant in 2008-2009.

The head of state responded by noting that the volume of Rostelmash company's products had risen by 3.3 times recently.

Putin believes that this was an example of how the system supporting domestic production has worked, and then he stated that "we will keep doing this".
